From the Claiborne High School Newsletter,
“Well, it’s about that time! The 2019 – 20 school year is around the corner. We want to share the first-of-the-year schedule (which is subject to additional posts…stay tuned).
Teacher in-service is August 1, 2, 5, and 6. Teacher work day is August 7th. Teachers, check your email occasionally for a schedule for those in-service days.
Incoming 9th grade students:
Freshman Orientation is the evening of August 6th, from 6 – 8 p.m. We begin in the multi-purpose room where students and parents meet the administration and faculty, receive information concerning such topics as scheduling, absences/tardies, dropping off/picking up, etc. When students/parents are released, students will receive their schedules and a map of the building. At this point, everyone is encouraged to walk the building, talk with/ask questions of teachers, see classrooms, inquire about sports, clubs, and organizations, and get a general feel for what a school day will look like. Our Student Council members will be available in the hallways to act as guides or to answer questions. (They will be introduced at the beginning of the evening.)
Unfortunately, the calendar does not allow time for a 9th-grade only day, so ALL students begin on August 8th. Please do keep in mind that ATTENDANCE begins this day.
Our day starts with the first bell at 7:45 a.m. Students have 10 minutes to go to lockers and get ready for the day. We have a 1 minute warning bell and the TARDY bell rings at 7:55 a.m. Class begins at this time.
